The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is widely regarded as one of the most important road cars of the twentieth century — the original lightweight homologation special that cemented the 911's legacy as a driver's car above all others. Born from Porsche's need to qualify for Group 4 racing, just 1,580 examples were built, making every authentic RS a cornerstone collectible in any serious collection.

This particular example presents in its rare factory color, Light Green (Hellgrün), one of only eleven produced in this shade. It carries an early chassis number consistent with the first production run, and the documentation supports a thorough professional restoration completed between 2017 and 2018. With just 4,175 miles recorded on the odometer, this RS presents as a beautifully preserved, driver-quality example that also stands as a strong investment asset.

Developed as a homologation special to allow Porsche to compete in GT racing, the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 debuted at the 1972 Paris Motor Show and immediately sold out its initial allocation of 500. Porsche ultimately built 1,580 examples in two specifications: the lightweight Sport (Touring model adds comfort equipment), each powered by the legendary 2.7L flat-six producing 210 HP in road trim.
